The new art form made possible by technology.
Living Art, a concept developed by Los Angeles-based artist, Burton Gray, utilizes modern technologies (computer programs, pressure sensitive tablets, and high resolution pigment based printers) to create continuously evolving art. Living Art is a liberating concept that allows artists to take more risks and explore paintings beyond the physical realm. Stand-alone pieces evolve over decades, reflecting the changing perspective of the artist, the times, skills, taste and maturity.
The current art market, and its utilization of Limited Edition Series, is a 200 year old economic construct devised to create maximum demand for an arbitrarily limited supply. Living Art creates maximum demand for distinct personal works of art and then fills that demand with museum quality art sold at affordable prices.
The New Aesthetic
Living Art truly capitalizes on the grand potential of the new digital medium. New compositional styles, such as my freeform Fantasias and Animalia series, are early evidence of the dramatic shift unlimited variations, fearless experimentation (thanks to the "undo" command), and uncompromising limits on size and scale can have on Art production. Upon unlocking this new fearlessly subliminal aesthetic, key aspects of art creation such as conception, composition and content will undoubtedly explode into new art forms and previously unseen genres of image making.
LIVING EDITION "THUMB" PRINTS
Every painting is on a life-long path that I share, a Living Edition is a day in the life of that journey.
My paintings are Living Art, they exist only on a hard drive. Living Editions, also known as Thumb Print Editions, are very unique. They are the physical manifestations of my digital paintings, a snapshot, in the ever evolving life of a living painting.
Each has two dates. The Evolution Date is the specific day and time the painting was last saved and the Creation Date is when a piece was physically produced.
The Golden Thumb Print
My personal seal of approval. I wont use a rubber stamp - EVER. Every piece is hand signed and, upon my approval, is thumb printed by me, the Artist, Burton Gray.
My paintings are Living Art. Each art piece is a snapshot in the ever evolving life of a living painting. Physical manifestations of my paintings are Living
Editions, with two dates appearing on each. TheEvolution Date is the specific day and time the painting was last saved and the Creation Date states the date a piece was physically produced.
All Living Editions are presented on museum quality cotton rag papers with pigment based inks.
