Now, these are animals with souls. But originally, my ANIMAL series was just a collection of animals I painted in a classic old-master style portraiture style. But, by treating animals as people it became dificult to not see them as people. I began to infuse each animal with the spirit of a person I knew that reflected a persona. Thus connection on a personal and a universal level. The results are a collection of animals with souls.
Functional Aesthetics: Every member of my ANIMAL series is intended to serve a psychological function for the viewer. A daily reminder of who you are and who you aspire to be more like.
